For a fifth year, Heritage Baptist
Church, Worcester, will engage in a literature distribution ministry
to Irish Evangelical pastors and church workers. The ministry is
called Mission::Ireland. The two colons in our name are intended to
represent the shamrock, a symbol of the Emerald Isle.
Along with Reformed Baptist pastors on the ground, we have identified over 70 Evangelicals who are likely to be influenced by a steady stream of good Reformed literature. We have experienced this to an unexpected degree. We invite you to join us in this ministry. We believe it will be of great service to this land untouched by a modern reformation. Many are already praying this ministry will facilitate a true reformation, the recovery of a full-orbed understanding of God's Word. This is the long-term goal that gives us our purpose for acting as we do.
May the Sovereign God use books penned by the living and the dead to point men to Christ and back to the Word.
Our immediate goal is to enlist the help of like-minded churches to support this mission to Ireland for another year. As many men as we are able to obtain funding for will receive ten to twelve titles a year. As we have established credibility with these men, a Reformed conference ministry has been introduced. After two conferences, a nucleus of Irishmen has emerged.
We need your help. The brethren in Ireland do as well.
The need is for churches to give either $25 a month or $300 a year for each Irish pastor adopted into the program. This amount covers the cost of goods, service and overhead as well as a small accumulation of funds for the future conference ministry along with other compelling needs in Ireland as they arise. In 2005 & 2006 some aid has been given to churches for specific needs.
Some churches could consider a one-time gift to cover administrative costs or a gift for the conference ministry in Ireland. Other churches could commit to the regular funding for this program. Still others can be informed and reminded to pray for our brethren in this spiritually barren land. Not all can send monetary support.
95% of the population are professing or nominal or lapsed Roman Catholics.
2½% denominate themselves as Protestants meaning they have roots in the
Church of Ireland (Anglican).
The remaining percentage encompasses everything else. By the most extravagant
projections the Evangelicals may be close to 1%. But, the Reformed
Evangelicals are a growing microscopic minority within that larger
minority.
Join in our prayer: that in the years to come, the Lord would call out a people to praise him as he has ordained worship and to know him according to his own truth. Furthermore, pray that those whom He calls will be bold to proclaim the glorious gospel of the grace of God amid the spiritual darkness shrouding Ireland.
Prayerfully consider one of the following:
A One-Time Gift of $________
Monthly Support to adopt ___ pastor(s) at $25/mo.
Yearly Support to adopt ___ pastor(s) at $300/year.
Praying for Reformation in all of Ireland and beyond.
